Raquel and Rudy revive a minuet from the Ardennes, dating from the 19th century, when the fiddle dominated festive Walloon folk melodies. Thanks to the rediscovery of a book of musical scores collected by Jean-Guillaume Houssa (1790 – 1862), the couple were able to uncover a trace of traditional Walloon repertoires. The melodies were inspired by Celtic and Breton music while the overall arrangement has strange and original similarities with Baroque and Renaissance music. And although all this comes from the written music, the duo lets themselves interpret this intriguing piece with character and freshness.
