Gaspard Vanardois is a classically-trained guitarist and multi-instrumentalist whose musical journey has been shaped by many varied encounters. The instruments and pieces which he has come to master on his journey bear witness to the fine quality and heartfelt nature of those experiences. Gaspard plays guitar, banjo and Arab lute (’oud’) with the groups Taraf Dekale, Tavez Bartali and the band Fanfare La Baleine. For this video he has chosen to play “Flatbush Waltz”, a waltz originally written by klezmer musician Andy Statman and since incorporated into the Irish folk repertoire, followed by “Bulgaria” – representing, you guessed it, traditional Bulgarian music.
