West African Guitar, Hoddu

Malick Pathé Sow

The class:
West African guitar is identical to our European guitar apart from the technique and the repertory. We work on traditional music, near neighbour to African blues. Students can also learn the hoddu – the West African oud. These are group classes with attention given to each student.

Malick Pathe Sow
Malick Pathe Sow comes from a great griot family. He was brought up in Peulh music, with the Nomadic people of North Senegal. His style of guitar playing is sweet and tuneful, reminiscent of African harps. Ex - Baaba Maal guitarist, Malick teaches this unique style of guitar or hoddu (also known as n’goni) a type of luth or oud from West Africa.

No

Instrument provided ?
