The Saz is the generic word for lutes, from the smallest “cura” to the biggest “divan” passing through the baglama, these are stringed instruments used in traditional Anatolian music. Saz lessons are tailored to the student. This course is given following the oral tradition, which was still active until the mid-20th century.
Emre Gültekin followed the teaching of his father, Lütfü Gültekin, renowned composer of traditional Turkish music. He also enjoyed the teaching of the master Talip Özkan.
You can hear Emre’s saz on various Kalan Records production and in many different recordings in different styles. He released the album "Adana" with Vardan Hovanissian (duduk), Simon Leleux (darbouka) and Joris Vanvinckenroye (bass).
