Lessons for beginners, intermediate level and advanced The object of these lessons is to teach violinists to play tunes and harmonies by ear. The repertoire will consist of tunes by Django Reinhard, Tchavolo and Dorado Schmitt, and from the valse muzette repertoire. This course is taught in group lessons. While one student improvizes, the other learns the harmonies of the piece. Each student will be kept busy all the time.

The lessons consist of:

- learning tunes by ear
- learning the harmonies of a piece
- how to accompany someone on your violin
- learning to improvise
- harmonic theory

Pupils will be divided by level. A basic knowledge of the instrument is required.

The teacher:

Anouk started playing the violin at the age of four by the Suzuki method. Thanks to external influences she acquired a taste for folk music. She founded the folk group Falafel and with it she won the 2007 dance rally, organized by two not-for-profit organizations, Boombal and Muziekmozaiek. In October 2009 the new group Broes was set up and Anouk, as one of its members was chosen as the best newcomer of the year by Folkroddels, while in 2013 she won the Dranouter Rootsrally, as a result of which she was able to play at the Dranouter Festival. This was followed by tours of Belarus and China, also in 2013, and Hong Kong in 2014. After wobbling between folk and jazz for a few years she entered the Royal Conservatoire in Brussels in 2011 to study jazz violin with Françoise Derissen. In 2012 she launched a new project under the aegis of Wouter Vandenabeele: this was the Ghent Folk Violin Project, whose first album has already been recorded. Among other people, she worked together with N’Faly Kouyaté, Issa Sow, Mamy Kanouté, Bao Sissoko and Wouter Vandenabeele. She has also followed masterclasses with Kyriakos Gouventas, Casey Driessen, Marcel Ramba and Alexandre Cavalière.

Classes are held weekly on Wednesdays from 17:30 to 22:00. Group lessons last one hour.
