The duduk represents the whole sound and indeed the whole soul of Armenia. With its double reed (ghamish), it is classed as belonging to the oboe family. The dark mellow timbre creates a music ambience that is always identifiably nostalgic. This aspect is heightened by the circular breathing technique. Lessons are one-to-one. Working on sound production is a major component of the course, and the repertoires tackled are chiefly traditional ones, although there is some flexibility. An instrument may be provided by the tutor.

Vardan Hovanissian

Vardan Hovanassian has toured the world (Europe, Canada, Asia) as a solo artiste, in duo, with his group Arax and accompanying singer Yasmin Levy.

Timetable

Vardan teaches on Tuesdays, from 17.00 to 21.00 at Maria-Boodschaplyceum (Rue de la Braie 22, 1000 Bruxelles).

Depending the available time slots, you can take a weekly individual class of 30 minutes.

ATTENTION!! !!Come along to a free trial lesson on 26September 2017 (5pm - 9pm), when you will also be able to arrange a regular time with the tutor.
