The course

The beginners’ course focuses on the various aspects of practical accordion playing, using a repertoire of folk songs as a basis (klezmer, circus, french chanson and other traditional melodies). In the various lessons, students will work on rhythm, melody, accompaniment, bellows work, and improvisation.

The lessons for intermediate and advanced levels will focus on various repertoires with special attention given to the work on rythms : 3/4, 4/4, boleros, 5/4, 6/8, 7/8, tangos, javas... In this course, you will learn to interpret and to understand what is played, to do chords reversal and to accompany yourself with this wonderful instrument.

The teacher

Olivier Grawez learned to play several instruments – including clarinet, percussion and piano – before falling in love with the accordion. He currently plays with the traditional European music group Kiekebisch.

This course takes place on Wednesdays in Maria-Boodschaplyceum, 22 Rue de la Braie, Bruxelles

!!Come along to a free trial lesson on 20 September 2017 (from 7pm to 9pm), when you will also be able to arrange a regular time with the tutor.

This class is organised in ’cycles’ of 8 classes. The first cycle will start on 27/9. You should make a payment of 110€ before the start of each cycle. The classes take place weekly (except for school holidays), according with the availability of the teacher. When the teacher can’t teach for one or several weeks, he will contact the students and classes will be postponed. Therefore, cycles of 8 classes can take longer than 8 weeks. There can be maximum 4 cycles per year. The last class will take place on June 20th. Contact us if you want to enroll during the ongoing school year.
