The course focuses on the technique of bandoneon playing and applying that technique to playing tango music (traditional and modern), including analysing the specific rhythms, melodies and harmonies of the tango.

Students

The course is open to accordionists and other instrumentalists wishing to get to know this music and those who want to look more deeply into the language of the tango. Individual classes (a half hour) and group classes (one hour) are possible.

The tutor

Bandoneon player and composer Gerardo Agnese studied at the Conservatoire of Rosario (Argentina). He studied under the legendary Domingo Federico, among other master players. He has been a member of many tango bands and orchestras (Orquesta Juvenil de Tango, Tango del Callejón trio, Quinteto Camandulaje and others). He currently performs with the ensemble Tango Tingo, Melting Point Quintet and El tongo and composes for several groups and theatre productions.

The instrument

Gerardo can help you look for a good-quality affordable instrument.

Timetable

Tuesdays, from 20:30 to 22:00. Individual classes are for a half hour and a group class is for one hour.

Come along to a free trial lesson on 19 September 2017, when you will also be able to arrange a regular time with the tutor.
