Malick Pathe Sow comes from a large family of laawbe (like griots) and has been brought up with the music of the Peulh, nomadic people from North Senegal. Following loyal service as one of Baaba Maal’s main musicians, playing the hoddu -African lute- and singing, he embarked on a solo career after he arrived in Belgium.
In 1998, he released his first CD Danniyanke with the help of Baaba Maal. Two CD’s followed : Diariyata in 2001 at the lRobert Falk label and in 2005, Miin E Mah . His latest CD called Maayo Men which he recorded with his group Maoba, marks a return to his acoustic roots and led him to play at festivals in England, France, Algeria, Tanzania and Malaysia.
